June 19th Meet-up at Dinnerware

June 19, 2008
7:00 pmto10:00 pm

The June Tucson Digital Arts Community meet-up will take place at the Dinnerware gallery in downtown Tucson.

Come on by between 7pm and 9pm

DINNERWARE artspace
264 e. congress street
Tucson, arizona 85701

Dinnerware is starting a new event called IGNITE TUCSON (see description below) and they’d like to test it out with some tech savvy folks, i.e. TDAC members!  The IGNITE format (it was started in Portland) was inspired by presentations at high tech companies. The idea is to get information out in a quick and dynamic way. Anyone up for putting together an Ignite 5-minute presentation for the June 19th meetup??

What is “IGNITE TUCSON” ?

What if you had an innovative topic to talk about and you had 5 minutes to talk about it in front of an audience.

To make your talk more visual, what if you had selected 20 images beforehand, running 15 seconds on a timer projected on a big screen behind you?

What would you say?
Where would you take your audience?

Presentations must:

  • Be no longer than 5 minutes.
  • Be on an innovative topic.
  • Be on a CD or DVD ready to run on a Macintosh.

Here’s a link to a few good examples from Ignite Seattle, Ignite Portland, and Ignite Boston:

AUTOpoiesis poster

Please visit www.Autopoetic.org for more information about this interdisciplinary event of art + music + performance.

In May of 2007 visual artists, bands, dj’s, live aerosol artists, a fire performer and many viewer-participants gathered in Tucson, Arizona for a playful night of art, multimedia, performance and music. This convergent event, which embodied the creative spirit of a community, was given the name Autopoiesis. Based on the success of this gathering, organizers of the event realized that it was a process worth repeating. Please join us on the night of June 14th at Splinter Studios for Autopoiesis 2008!
